iSauna Design Home
The size of a sauna is typically determined by the maximum number of people who can sit comfortably inside together.
A sauna is considered economical if:
1. It is a home sauna for 3–5 people in a family house or apartment.
2. It is a communal sauna for 8–12 people (e.g., in hotels or swimming pools).
For larger capacity needs, it is advisable to install two sauna cabins.
When constructing or installing a sauna, the following technical requirements must be prepared in advance:
1. Cold flooring under the sauna. For larger saunas, a floor drain is recommended to facilitate easier cleaning.
2. Plastered walls should be prepared prior to sauna construction or installation.
3. The minimum ceiling height of the sauna room should be 2.15 m.
4. The ventilation in the sauna cabin is gravitational. If the sauna room is small or has no window, proper ventilation for used air from the sauna must be ensured (e.g., with a ceramic ventilation grille installed in the wall).
5. The sauna is heated by electric sauna stoves, with a power range of 3–22 kW. It is advisable to refer to the electrical information section for further details.
Required electrical information for sauna installation:
3.0 kW and 4.5 kW sauna stoves can be operated on a single phase, while higher-powered stoves require three-phase power (3 x 220V). An exception is the Moderna stove series, whose 6 kW and 8 kW models can also operate on a single phase.
The required power is determined using an experience-based factor of 0.8 - 1.2 kW per cubic meter of sauna space. Within a maximum distance of 2 meters from the outer wall of the sauna, the following connection should be installed using copper cables:
