The world of saunas is a vast and colorful one. The beauty of this world lies in the fact that everyone can choose the type of sauna and sauna experience that best fits the effect they wish to achieve. A sauna can be calming or invigorating, dry or steamy, traditional or bio sauna, aromatherapy based or Himalayan salt therapy sauna. Saunas can offer relaxation, regeneration, refreshment, or muscle relaxation. Most sauna enthusiasts are familiar with and use the dry sauna, also known as the traditional Finnish sauna. Since each type of sauna has different health benefits, it’s worth exploring the others as well.
Sauna sessions and infusions are also becoming increasingly popular in our country. Different infusions with essential oils, herbs, fruits, or even alcohol are especially effective with a pouring sauna heater.
The traditional Finnish sauna is a dry sauna, where a wood-burning or electric sauna heater provides a high temperature, typically around 80-90°C. The high temperature causes immediate sweating, which helps eliminate toxins from the body and improves skin condition.
The main difference between a pouring sauna heater and a traditional Finnish sauna heater lies in the quantity of sauna stones. A pouring sauna heater contains up to five times more sauna stones and is designed so that water can be poured over the heated stones from both the side and the top.
In pouring saunas, air humidity is kept appropriately low, allowing sweat to evaporate effectively. During an infusion, a strong stimulus effect is felt as the cooling is suddenly interrupted. When water is poured over the hot stones, the resulting steam fills the air in the sauna.
The moistened air condenses on the skin, further heating it. These pouring infusions can be enhanced with various sauna essential oils, sauna honey, honey soap, and other sauna accessories.
Nowadays, sauna rituals are held not only in hotels but also in home saunas. During these rituals, different infusions are made using a variety of sauna accessories.
The effects of essential oil sauna infusions can be intensified by repeating them frequently. With a pouring sauna heater, this poses no problem thanks to the large quantity of sauna stones.
